EUFOREA Launches COPD Patient Portal
COPD: Reliable Information to Support Patients and Caregivers
Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) is the third leading cause of death worldwide, affecting millions of people and placing a significant burden on patients, families, and healthcare systems. Despite its prevalence, many people are unfamiliar with COPD until they receive a diagnosis, often leaving them with limited time during clinical appointments to fully understand the condition and what it means for their daily lives.
After diagnosis, many patients and caregivers look online for additional information. However, finding trustworthy, evidence-based resources can be difficult, and navigating topics such as symptoms, exacerbations, treatment options, disease management, and associated comorbidities can be overwhelming.
To help bridge this gap, EUFOREA has expanded its Patient Portal to include COPD, offering a dedicated resource developed with clinical experts and patient needs in mind. The portal provides clear, accessible, and evidence-based information to help patients and caregivers better understand COPD, manage the condition with confidence, and prepare for informed discussions with their healthcare professionals.
In this episode, we speak with Prof Wisia Wedzicha, Professor of Respiratory Medicine at Imperial College London’s National Heart and Lung Institute, and Dr Sophie Scheire, Patient Education Manager at EUFOREA. Together, they discuss the global burden of COPD, the realities faced by patients and healthcare professionals, and how the new COPD Patient Portal can support better understanding and self-management.
Explore the COPD Patient Portal to access educational resources, practical guidance, and reliable information designed to support every stage of the patient journey.
